The Physick Book of deliveranec Dane

by Katherine Howard

A great tale about a grad student who, studying Colonial History discovers more about the Salem witches and herself than she bargained for, Moving into her Grandmother’s house to get it ready for sale she discovers a key inside a bible – and inside the key is a name. As she researches the person behind the name her university mentor takes a frightening and intense interest making this a light and intelligent thriller. An interesting account of the Salem trials with characters that are vivid and alive. A story that makes you think what if some of those women were actually more than just ordinary – a book I wanted to get home to read! Katherine Howard wrote the book after research in her own studies found she was related to two of those taken to trial in the Salem witch trials.

The Historian

by Elizabeth Kostova

This is a wonderful gothic page turner about old manuscripts, misplaced letters, dusty archives, obsessive librarians, and DRACULA. Not the usual book about this historical villain, this story takes the reader on a breathless adventure through Eastern Europe during the Cold War era looking for this nocturnally inclined fellow.
